#CreateCOP28: International Art Competition for Climate Justice

Art has always been a powerful vehicle for change, and the annual #CreateCOP28 is harnessing this potential to drive conversations about climate change and the urgent need for action. The international art competition calls on creatives worldwide to submit artwork that raises awareness of critical climate issues and the agenda for COP28, the United Nations' annual climate summit. #CreateCOP was developed by Art Partner, a creative agency that offers creative direction, brand purpose and positioning, artist representation, and product consulting services, among others.

Art Partner's #CreateCOP competition aims to engage audiences emotionally and viscerally, motivating collective conversations and urgent actions in response to climate change. It seeks to amplify the call to climate action by providing a platform where the voices of the next generation of concerned creatives can be seen and heard. The competition also strives to “connect the dots for positive change by creating links between people, platforms, businesses, governments and organisations all over the world.”

Who Can Participate?

The competition is open to individuals of all nationalities, races, genders, and faiths within the age range of 14-30. Artists can utilize any medium to express their message, including photography projects, documentaries, experimental films, performance art, spoken word, musical compositions, fashion design, new media, and social media projects. Participants are encouraged to interpret the climate crisis in their own unique way. Suggested themes include climate justice, corporate greenwashing, material innovation, wildlife and ecosystem conservation, grassroots activism, intersectional environmentalism, regeneration, the physical and mental impacts of the climate crisis, and nature-based wisdom.

Eight finalists will receive cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000, or $2,000. Additionally, 20 creatives will be honored with mentions by a panel of globally recognized judges, consisting of industry experts. Selected works from past and current #CreateCOP winners will be featured in an in-person exhibition at the United Nations HQ in New York.

Jurors for the competition include Italian-American photographer Mario Sorrenti, Atmos Magazine Editor-In-Chief Willow Defebaugh, The Serpentine Galleries Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, sustainable fashion advocate Marina Testino, climate activist Jerome Foster II, Yehyehyeh agency Founder Shaway Yeh, and Art Partner Founder Giovanni Testino.

Artworks for #CreateCOP28 competition can be submitted on their official website createcophub.com until October 16, 2023.
