BTS’ V and Olivia Rodrigo to release albums on the same day

Two global music artists are set to release their much-anticipated albums on the same day. 

TAEHYUNG or V of the KPop supergroup BTS will drop his first solo album titled Layover on September 8. Comprising six tracks spanning R&B and soul style genres, the record is expected to showcase V’s unique artistry. Entertainment company Big Hit Music also confirmed that five of the songs will have corresponding music videos.

Coincidentally, Grammy-award winning musician Olivia Rodrigo will release her long-awaited sophomore album GUTS on September 8. The Filipino-American popstar told Rolling Stone that the new record is about "making mistakes and not doing everything perfectly." Olivia released the LP’s lead single, the baroque-pop lament “Vampire,” last June 30 to commercial and critical success. The second single off the album called “bad idea right?,” is slated to be released on August 11.

It can be recalled that V and Olivia Rodrigo met at the 2022 Grammy awards show. At the start of BTS’ performance of “Butter,” V was seen interacting with “drivers license” singer and appeared to have whispered something shocking in her ear. In an interview with Weverse magazine, V revealed that the entire sequence was a last-minute thing and that he ended up not really saying anything real during the staged conversation.
