New app “TypeKita” lets Pinoy writers earn from chat-style novels
ICYMI: There’s a new app that lets Pinoy writers earn from their passion.
TypeKita is an app that “champions chat fiction or stories written in the form of online conversations." The name of the app itself is pure creativity: Type for the app’s focus on the written word and Kita as in the Filipino word for earnings or profit. In modern Pinoy language, TypeKita can also mean “I like you.”
The app is powered by social entertainment platform Kumu. It is the local version of Joylada, a chat-style novel app from Thailand. Kumu President and co-founder Rexy Dorado says the app aims to "help people find the creativity within themselves, bolstered by a safe community."
Prior to its official launch, TypeKita has already seen a steady growth of users. To date, the app has over 3,000 digital novels ranging from romance, coming-of-age, mystery, fantasy, and horror genres.
Monetization features in the app come in the form of ads, paid chapters, and gifts.
TypeKita is available for download on App Store and Google Play. For more details, check TypeKita’s Facebook page.
